Anne Njemanze, who came into the movie fame with her super role as "Dormitta" in the award winning movie more than a decade ago has no immediate plans of leaving the program Tinsel. Though she is now very busy in her Government job as the head of Servicom in Lagos, the ex-wife of Movie actor Segun Arinze is staying put in Tinsel as Detective Sankey

This sack is just the twist in the  plot as her character tries to get Masters to face justice in the hands of the Law.

Tinsel Sponsor's AIRTEL fails in Guerrilla Marketing Plan

Indian owned telecom company, Airtel have tried to maximize their sponsorship of the Tv series Tinsel by telling the cast and writers to mention the name of their network in the story. It was seen as a powerful placement ad that the company wanted and had even gotten the writers to be making sure most scenes with calls have the actors call the network name and praise it.

However their plans were foiled when most of the senior actors demanded to be paid before applying this open form of endorsement.

Insidetinseltown.blogspot.com was reliably informed that scenes of Tiki K's mothers call with her husband in Kwara were deleted and re-acted again because there was so much call of the network Airtel that it became too obvious.

hmmm..why doesn't Airtel just endorse some of the actors/actresses ala Glo?....why the cheap method?

Tinsel Cast Departure---RMD to the rescue

RMD set to return to Tinsel
Reports reaching us seems to indicate that veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo will be recalled to the show after a series of departures in order to save the quality of the casts.

RMD who played Angela's father left Tinsel a few months ago citing personal challenges and high work load as a commissioner in Delta State. In fact it was gathered that RMD's initial stint was just to appear as a cameo in a few episodes but he was so refreshingly different that a storyline was centered around him.

This was a challenging period as he had to be shooting scene after scene almost all weekends he was in the role and this took a toll on him and his job.

However, he is poised to return now to uplift the show and an agreement has been reached to minimize his appearances. It was easy to recall RMD because unlike some of the other casts, he did not leave for financial issues. It was all about his lack of time. His return may coincide with the return of Matilda Obaseki, the original Angela Dede.

Tinsel in bid to Boost Popularity Crossesover with Changes And The Wild

Ian Roberts and Victor Olaotan (Fred Ade-Williams ) may meet on our screens as Tinsel cross with The Wild

Producers of MNET's popular Tv series Tinsel are set to do a series of crossovers very soon. This is in a bid to boost popularity of their programs across the continent. Tinsel may be doing some crossover with east African series Changes and South African series The Wild.

The crossover with Changes seems in a bid to smoothen out Lizz Njagah's (Tara Duke of Tinsel) move to Changes. Lizz who has left Tinsel to go back home to Kenya will be appearing in the series Changes.

However, the cross over with The Wild is seen as a bid to spike popularity and rating across the continent as Tinsel bids to gain more syndicated money. While The Wild is very successful internationally and makes a lot of money from syndication, Tinsel's main income seems to be coming from their Nigerian Sponsors and advertisers.

This will not be the first time the network has planned crossovers win Tinsel. There was an unsuccessful attempt to cross over Tinsel with popular series Jacob's Cross two seasons ago.

"Leonora has no right to complain"- Producer

Matilda ready to return after giving birth to a bouncing baby boy(l)
A member of the South African producing Team of Tinsel has told www.insidetinseltown.blogspot.com that Ghanaian beauty leonora Okine has no right to complain whatsoever over the imminent return of Matilda to the screen as Angela Dede.

"It was all in her contract," He said on the condition of remaining anonymous. " We had clearly stated that on the event Matilda recovers from her child birth and is strong enough to return to work, she will have her role back...as long as she is willing."

This has come in the spate of the uproar over Matilda's imminent return as broken in our blog earlier this week.
Matilda was scheduled to return by January but all indications is that she will resume next month following Leonora's reluctance to continue playing the reserve....

Mr. Nigeria set for Role in Tinsel

Former Mr. Nigeria, model turned actor, Bryan Okwara has been casted for a role in Tinsel. It is not known yet when his character enters the story but one suspects he will be a new love interest to either Angela or Brenda. What is certain though is that he will be appearing on our screens very soon.

Money Claims Telema's Sister-Another Tinsel Loss

Tare Duke, Played by the Kenyan actress Lizz Njagah has left Tinsel. This is just a few months after her on screen sister Telema Duke left the show.

Rumour has it that she was not at all satisfied with the monetary offer she had received and was due for a revised contract...however, the producers of the show as usual were not keen to pay the actors or actresses any more money than that already offered.

Lizz, who recently just married her Greek lover, filmmaker Alexandros Konstantaras has since returned to Kenya and is reported to be teaming up with another Mnet production, "Changes".

Angry Leonora Looks up to Nollywood as Matilda Wins The"Angela Dede" Role

Ghanaian Actress , the beautiful Leonora Okine may have set sights to becoming a legend in Nollywood as the producers have confirmed that Angela Dede will be casted by the new mama Matilda Obaseki.

The recently put to bed mother is lined up to return to her role as Angela Dede. The fans will be prepared for this as Tinsel story will take a twist and allow Angela to run away in the midst of all the trouble with Masters and Odyssey. She will be away for a while to allow a little break with the fans so as not to introduce her as suddenly as they did Leonora.

She is poised to return from the exile in January, refreshed and ready to go. Meanwhile, Leonora who seems quite upset not to have the role on a permanent basis is set to sign a deal with a prominent producer to lead in a series of Nollywood movies.

We wish her all the best....as we will fondly remember her great role as temporary Angela.

MONEY Rocks TINSEL again- Gideon Okeke SACKED from Tinsel?

The Money crises rocking Tinsel seems to be digging deeper. The issue has raised its ugly head after the loss of Damilola Adegbite sudden exit due to the meager sums of money being paid. She had blatantly refused to sign a new contract after the producers kept on reneging on their promise to give improved financial conditions. Now other actors are grumbling about the poor remunerations.

The latest is Gideon Okeke who plays the part of the spoilt heir to the Ade-Williams dynasty, Philip. He was reported to be so unhappy with the conditions of his service that he decided to have a carefree attitude to work. He is late for production, does not take anything seriously and generally puts up in an unprofessional attitude. This has irritated the directors and producers that they were planning of removing his character from the show.

However with the recent rumble and changes in cast, it was decided that the best way to deal with him was to suspend him. Thus the script was altered to allow a business trip to Ghana or South Africa for him. Thus we will soon not be seeing Philip for a long while. Rumour has it that it may be up to three months and if the public take to the new angle of the story, he will probably be permanently dropped from the show.

Money...Real reasons why 'Telema' left Tinsel

It is no longer news that Damilola Adegbite (Telema Duke ) has left the soap opera, Tinsel. What was however hidden was her reason for leaving. Her Pr company and sent out series of carefully scripted notes saying thank you for the last four years and blah blah blah...however we have gotten the real reasons.....MONEY.

Damilola had  been one of the leading actresses in the  TV series but was not well paid. In fact the complains was that their contract had given them a fixed monthly payment irrespective of how many episodes you appear in. This was not too appreciated with the cast who had longed for the same type of treatment received by the casts of "Jacob's Cross", a sister production also by Mnet. "Jacob's Cross" which is based in South Africa with a few Nigerian but mostly South African actors are paid per episode and are paid in six figures. Their take home per episode eclipses what the Nigerians get per Month. The fact that "Jacob's Cross"  is once a week gives the cast more time to themselves while Tinsel cast work everyday.

Damilola and some other top actors had requested more money and was promised it will be reflected in a new contract when they tidy up with their new sponsors, Airtel. But when this was finished, only the South African technical guys who work only 2 weeks in the month (and are replaced with another set from South Africa) were given better deals.

Damilola, then left after securing a movie deal with a Nollywood producer.(Paying much more -of course).
There are rumours of more exits in Tinsel and the writers are really hard pressed trying to explain this to the watching public.
Also Ziggy's exit has left them in a mini script crises.

WAR IN TINSEL-As Matilda set to rejoin casts

There is a storm brewing in Tinsel as Matilda Obaseki is set to return to the cast of Tinsel as Angela Dede. It will be recalled that the elegant actress left the scene for maternity purposes and the young Ghanaian Actress, the beautiful Leonora Okine deputized for her.  However after the birth of her baby, Matilda is poised for a return to the screen to take up her post as Angela but it seems Leonora will not take it quietly.

The actress who has been spectacular in the Angela role has been drumming up support around cast and crew alike. It was said while some criticism were on her in her role as the neurotic Angela, she has however played excellently as Master's romantic interest.  The romantic role may win her the position as in as much as Matilda Obaseki had been receiving award nominations for her delivery of the Angela Dede role especially given the challenges involved in playing the role of the troubled yet determined mentally ill young woman, she was seen as too stiff and uncompromising and uncompromising as a lover on screen.  We wait...Remember YOU HEARD IT FIRST HERE on insidetinseltown.blogspot.com

Finances hold back Bimpe's Apartment

Tinsel followers will realize that our lovable Bimpe has no accommodation...over 4 months into her scripted move as Chuk's neighbour. She is either in Chuk's house, at work in Philip Ade-Williams house or Soji's apartment....Well here is the real inside gist.

The producers have been reluctant to spend money creating a stage for her apartment...as 90% of the show is staged. They have been busy creating a stage for the Prison where Dan Ade-Williams is incarcerated.

Complains have been put that there is no fund for Bimpe's apartment as our sweet mischievous girl will have to wait a while. Scoop has it that most of the funds are used to pay the South Africans who jet in briefly and work for a short period before going back home...We have our ears on that story.

Nowhere to hide...
